Our caring teachers set a daily rhythm for toddlers that includes group time, story time, physical play (indoor and outdoor), meals and snacks, naps and most importantly, lots of play time (because we know so much learning happens when they play with attentive teachers nearby).
Every day, our creative teachers guide toddlers through fun activities that are just right for their age.
Group time
Group time happens every day in our classroom. For toddlers, its their time to come together as a community, talk about the day, and hear a read-aloud.
Meals and snacks
Every day, toddlers sit down to a healthy snack and lunch in a family setting at the table allowing the teachers to encourage mealtime but also talk about the different foods and promote and practice independent eating.
Play time
Our full day toddlers spend 2 hours outside, 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon, weather permitting. For our other programs the children use the indoor playground to run around, use the bicycles, kick the ball and practice, and build on their every-growing physical skills.
Here’s an example of the full day schedule for our toddler classrooms:
Arrival: Open – 9:00 am
Its so nice to see everyone this morning! As children arrive, they are welcomes by smiling teachers. They are exploring the classroom and playing quietly while they wait for their friends to arrive.
Morning Circle: 9:00 am – 9:30 am
The start of our day is when we come together as a group to welcome each other and talk briefly about the day’s planned events. We do the good morning train song, read a book out loud and sing songs!
Snack time and Washroom Routine: 9:30 am – 10:00 am
Time to eat a healthy snack and get changed and continue with our fun day.
Outdoor Play: 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Its time to go outside! Mostly little ones play on their own, using their imaginations. Outdoor time is substitutes in the indoor playground due to non-compliant weather giving them time to run around and burn off all the infectious energy they hold.
Activity Center: 11:00 am – 11:30 am
Activity centers are an important part of our classroom. This is where the children can play and explore on their own, or work together on a theme-related activity led by the teacher.
Music: 11:30 am – 11:45 am
Its time for the toddlers to put on their dancing shoes and groove to the different songs and audio books along with Mr. Oleg’s guitar.
Lunch: 11:45 am – 12:15 pm
Time to wash our hands, help set tables and get ready to eat lunch!
Nap Time: 12:15 pm – 2:15 pm
Sssh… its quiet time. Most children will nap, but if they wake up (or if they never quiet get to sleep), they can select different quiet activities, such as looking at books.
Snack Time: 2:15 pm – 2;30 pm
Time for another nutritious snack.
Outdoor Play: 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Its time to go outside again! They might play on their own or participate in a group activity.
Group Time: 3:30 pm – 3:45 pm
At the end of the day, we gather as a group to talk about the day’s events as well as any special events planned for the next day. Other activities include a read-aloud book or a song!
Activity centers and pick up: 3:45 pm – Close
Its time for pick-up! After a busy day together, children are given the space and time to explore and play in the activity centers on their own.
